New sensor is part of company’s leading array of sensor products
Lincolnton, N.C., Sept. 24, 2013 — Interlogix, a leader in security and life safety solutions for residential and commercial enterprises, has added to its industry-leading family of intrusion sensors new five-dimensional (5D) signal processing motion detectors capable of providing strong suppression of nuisance alarms. Interlogix is part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
New 5D signal processing involves analysis of an object’s shape, duration, speed and size, as well as environmental factors. 5D processing provides optimal discernment between a low-speed intruder and environmental signals such as reflected sunlight. Using sophisticated algorithms, including pattern analysis, these sensors can also determine an intruder’s direction of motion.
“False alarms are a major challenge facing the industry, as they may delay law enforcement response time to alarms and can result in costly fines to the end user,” said Kirk MacDowell, vice president sales, intrusion, Interlogix. “By adding an additional environmental analytic factor, our new 5D signal processing motion detectors can play a significant role in decreasing nuisance alarms.”
Interlogix continues to enhance its proven and extensive array of sensor products, which are vital components of an intrusion platform integrating access control and video surveillance.
Interlogix offers a variety of both wired and wireless sensors including passive infrared (PIR) motion detectors, glass break and vault sensors, window and door contacts, panic buttons and key fobs, heat and shock detectors, carbon monoxide alarms, bill traps and barrier bars.
"We remain committed to developing new and innovative products that enhance our leading line of reliable sensors," MacDowell said. "With virtually any electronic security installation, integration starts with the sensors."
